Meeting at Mt. Carmel church

"Ten Words to Live By"

By: Jen Wilkin

Wednesday evenings at Mt. Carmel Church from 7:30 to 8:30 beginning on September 15th and lasting 10 weeks.

Christianity isn't about following rules, it's about a relationship. The rise in popularity of this phrase coincides with a growing disinterest in misunderstanding regarding the role of God's life-giving, perfect law in the Christian life. Rather than the source of joy it was intended to be, the law is viewed as an angry God's restrictions for a rebellious people.

In Ten Words to Live By, Jen Wilkin presents a fresh biblical look at the Ten Commandments, showing how they come to bear on our lives today as we seek to love God and others, to live in joyful freedom, and to long for that future day when God will be rightly worshipped for eternity. Learn to see the law of God as a feast for your famished soul, open to anyone who calls on the name of the Lord.

Beaver Valley Church Plant

The Beaver Valley Church Plant is preparing to do the groundwork for the upcoming plant (things like key operational systems, discerning the location, the community, the mission, and vision). And, they are looking for people who want to be a part of this exciting adventure of reaching the unchurched for Christ in the next year. If you would like to be a part, either by simply joining them in prayer or joining the launch team (aka "The Roots Team"), shoot them an email at beavervalleyplant@gmail.com. The prayer meeting and launch team meetings are currently taking place in person on Thursday nights.

If you would like to know more about the work, visit www.beavervalleyplant.com and follow them on Facebook @beavervalleyplant.

UPDATE 8/18/21:

Update on the Beaver Valley Church Plant...

The Roots Team is the team that is needed to help get the plant off the ground. They're people from Mt Olivet, Mt Carmel, First Presbyterian, and Soma, who want to grow in Christ through being a part of this movement (at least to help get it started). We've decided that our focus community will be the Monaca/Center community. And, we're starting to conceptualize what the plant will be like: a community-based church that—through service and authentic relationships—sees people come to a saving knowledge of Christ, develops a hunger for God’s Word, and utilizes their gifts in service to one another. We are asking God to give us a church name soon and to show us how we can serve our focus community in tangible, loving ways. Pray with us.

How to pray for the Prinkey family:

  • Pray for wisdom for us and our four sending churches as we lead this effort. Pray our hearts will continue to be broken for the lost.
  • Pray more people will be moved to join the Roots Team, coming alongside us to reach out to build the church and reach out to people.
  • Pray that those who join the Roots Team will grow in their love for God, the Gospel, and the lost. And, their love of Christ will motivate them to walk in faith over fear.
  • Pray it would become clear where we should hold our initial worship services (ideally, somewhere with low overhead and in a location that will help us reach people in the Monaca/Upper Center area).
  • Pray hearts will be softened to the Gospel in the community that we will plant in.
  • Pray that those who attend the Sunday night Bible studies (from both those who are interested in serving the plant and the surrounding community) will grow together in the Lord.
  • Pray the Lord will show us how He wants us to serve and love on in our focus community.
  • Pray for us. Pray for encouragement and perseverance. And, pray that we will maintain healthy rhythms with the Lord, our own bodies, our marriage, and our family.
  • Pray for Eric as he works on completing requirements for EPC ordination (he completed his psychological exam and is now working on preparing for written tests).
